We develop talent and broaden horizons one child at a time.
The DIW Pre-Professional School supports students ages 3-17 and youth from D.C. communities, training artistic excellence at the highest level to build life-long skills and confidence through compassion, empowerment, academic discipline, emotional support, and nutritional guidance.
Research and experience has proven that participation in the arts improves mental, physical, and emotional health for individuals and communities. Rigorous and excellent concert dance training goes one step further, not only to develop critical life skills, but also to open opportunities for financial stability through a career in the arts and entertainment industries. Access to this level of training is expensive, selective, and historically has been made unavailable or unwelcoming to youth from communities of color. DIW eliminates barriers to access as D.C.’s only subsidized training school.
