Health & Wellness
We know that a student’s success depends on more than just training. As part of our equity commitment, DIW offers robust support systems to help students thrive mentally and physically.
- Positive Pathways™: We foster positive mental pathways in young dancers through workshops and meetings with a licensed professional counselor.
- FullOUT™: This program focuses on body conditioning and injury prevention. Students attend workshops with a physical therapist to learn how to keep their bodies safe and recover at an elevated level.
- Energy Barre™: Our nutrition education and healthy meals program helps nourish young dancers and teaches them how to maintain a balanced diet.
Place & Permanence
Social and cultural stigmas like racism, discrimination, and body type bias often discourage young dancers of color. In response, DIW provides a profound alternative with its relationship-based training. Our teachers offer first-class dance instruction and support students’ journeys to college and beyond. This builds long-lasting relationships that reassure students throughout their childhood that they have a place here.
As part of this commitment to permanence, DIW hosts Power Hours™, monthly intensives in arts-integrated academic enrichment, professional development, and life skills.
