Whether you’re a seasoned dancer returning to the studio or a curious beginner, the Dance Institute of Washington invites you to discover our new adult classes. We believe dance is a powerful tool for wellness and community, and it’s never too late to start.

Our diverse offerings include Afro-FIT, Vogue Performance, Afro-Latino, Barre Pilates, and the precision of Beginner and Intermediate Ballet. These classes are designed to help you build strength, confidence, and artistry.

AFRO-FIT

Class Fee: Free

Class Level: All levels welcome 

Class Description: Join Ashanté for a fun, upbeat dance fitness class while building community. Afro-FIT is an excellent cardio fusion class that combines Afrocentric movement with full body exercises – moving to some of the hottest Afrobeat hits.

Registration & Attendance

Please review our class requirements and policies before booking to ensure the best experience:

  • Age Requirement: All participants must be 16 years or older.
  • Pre-Registration & Payment: All participants must pre-register online no later than 3 hours before the class start time , and full payment is required at the time of registration.
  • Minimum Class Size: There is a 5 student minimum for each class. If fewer than 5 students are registered 3 hours before class, the class will be automatically cancelled.
  • Late Arrival: Late arrivals disrupt the flow of classNo refunds or credits will be issued for late arrivals. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class begins to allot enough time for preparation.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

.Final Sale: All sales are final, unless The Dance Institute of Washington cancels class due to low attendance, inclement weather, or any other unforeseen circumstances.

  • DIW Cancellation: If DIW cancels the class, you will receive a full refund. Students will be notified of any cancellation via the email used at registration.
  • Participant Transfer: If a participant is unable to attend due to an emergency, they may transfer their ticket to another available class time prior to the start of the class time, if space permits. This link can be accessed in the order confirmation email under ‘Change your event time’.

Class & Safety Policies

  • Code of Conduct: Please respect instructors and fellow participants at all times. No disruptive behavior, including excessive talking, inappropriate language, or harassment, is allowed. The Dance Institute of Washington reserves the right to remove any participant who violates the code of conduct.
  • Health & Safety: The Dance Institute of Washington is not liable for injuries sustained during class; participation is at your own risk. Proper hydration and warm-up are encouraged before class.
  • COVID-19 Measures: Masks are optional unless otherwise mandated by local health authorities. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance. Please stay home if you are feeling unwell or have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Dress Code: Comfortable, movement-friendly attire is required. Dance shoes appropriate to the style being taught must be worn (e.g., ballroom, jazz), and no street shoes are allowed on the dance floor.
  • Privacy & Media: Photos and videos may be taken during class for promotional purposes. Personal belongings should be kept in designated areas; DIW is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
