THE SPIRIT OF KWANZAA

THE SPIRIT OF KWANZAA

The Spirit of Kwanzaa is a winter holiday celebration that draws on the agricultural ceremonies of Africa. The Dance Institute of
Washington has adapted the principles of Kwanzaa to portray the struggles and creativity within the Black experience. The production has been known to celebrate the holiday’s principles with dance, music, and spoken word performances.

SAVE THE DATES: DECEMBER 16 & 17

We are excited to extend The Dance Institute of Washington’s Annual Winter Production, The Spirit of Kwanzaa to dancers in the DMV community this year! Yes, that means dancers outside of our training program will be participating in this year’s Kwanzaa production. As we strive to bring the community together in different areas of work, this opportunity will allow patrons to see the talent in the District celebrate as one. This experience is cultural while also learning about self-worth, power, and dignity-all important assets to have while shaping and molding artists.
