The Produced by DIW season demonstrates the why in what we do: we hold as a core tenant that all people should have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of the art form of dance. That’s why we invite members of the community to perform in pieces Produced by DIW. That’s why our productions are presented in locations and at prices that are accessible and welcoming to all.
The Spirit of Kwanzaa is our most popular DIW production, featuring dancers from across the DMV in addition to DIW students. The emphasis on celebrating and sharing the histories and lived experiences not just of black America but of the diaspora and other cultures as well is part of how DIW is advancing both equity and representation. Our community is strengthened by creating, watching, discussing, and joining together over dance and music that celebrates and illuminates our shared history.
